Our bodies are uniquely designed to heal themselves
Our bodies are uniquely designed to heal themselves through our immune systems but we’ve lost sight of this and are all too quick to reach for the medicine bottle.
The problem with this is that most medications cause a multitude of side effects and only treat symptoms while not uncovering the root of the problem. All you have to do is look at the two pages of warnings for a magazine advertisement of a pharmaceutical drug, or the warning label on the back of an Advil bottle.
While I’m not promoting that you never take another Advil again, I am suggesting that the next time you open the medicine cabinet, just consider what alternatives you have and how you might heal your problem in other ways. Is your headache caused by dehydration that could be relieved by drinking water and resting?
Our emotional state manifests itself through our physical body. It’s been proven that stress can cause or exacerbate many illnesses. Could the stress in your neck from a hard day at work be offset by an evening walk or a good book?
In our busy society, we all want quick fixes so that we can keep moving, however sometimes slowing down and paying attention to what our body needs is just what the doctor ordered.
